Case method teaching resources
Both seasoned and novice case method teachers can benefit from brushing up on case teaching skills. Here are a few tips for conducting a case class:
- The most important single rule of case teaching: Have the students accept and maintain ownership of the discussion.
- Use questions to manage the tradeoff between depth and breadth, and to heighten conflict.
- Emphasize the development of a good discussion process early, especially in the first two classes.
- Nurture the discussion process even if that means reducing coverage of a case.
